Doolan's Country Retreat offers peace and tranquility in a beautiful timber home. Warm, spacious and tastefully decorated, nestled in ten acres of idyllic country setting, it has many charming features.
With panoramic views of Lake Rotorua, Mt Tarawera and the surrounding rural ares, guests can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the picturesque garden surrounded by specimen trees or just spend a quiet moment in our large conservatory area.
The relaxed rural environment and local knowledge allow guests to use our home as a serene retreat after a busy day sightseeing, playing golf, fishing or shopping.
Doolan's Country Retreat is truly a peaceful location to unwind and rejuvinate the soul. You can take in the views of Lake Rotorua, walk through the beautiful gardens, you can even pat one of Christine's four donkeys!
Bookings, attractions, meals at local restaurants and all the "need to know but difficult to find out things" are offered by Christine. Your time at Doolan's Country Retreat can be one of relaxation or action packed, but be rest assured Christine is available to ensure your stay is memorable.

Tui Room - Tui has a Quality deep-sprung Queen bed with Egyption cotton sheets and wool blankets, fresh flowers, soft white robe and slippers, a selection of teas awaits you. A personal safe. Tui has a lovely en-suite,with hair dryer, New Zealand made toiletries and a daily service. Tui room looks out onto a large BBQ area for guests to use. The area is drapped in many yellow roses and two large mature trees providing a canopy for the musical entertainment of Tui and Bellbirds, also the dancing and antics of the Piwakawaka bird are a fascination to watch.
It has an ensuite bathroom with a shower only and can sleep a total of 2 guests. It has 1 bed (Queen). Price per night: $190.00 B&B
The Quail Room - Quail suite is a spacious room, a quality deep-sprung kingsize bed with antique french headboard and magnificent victorian antique furniture to set it off. Fresh flowers, selection of teas and coffee, soft white robe and slippers awaits you. Walk in wardrobe with genuine old large safe. The en-suite has the finest New Zealand made toiletries, hair dryer and a daily service. Quail Suite looks out over rolling pastures showing every imaginable colour of green, the donkeys, Ricky Martin and Millie can sometimes be seen grazing from your bed.

The White Doves Room - White Doves is restfully charming, it has a genuine antique halftester bed, which is the centre piece of the white dove room, in confortable antique surroundings, fresh white flowers, a tray with teas and coffee, white fluffy robe and slippers awaits you. En-suite has hair dryer, New Zealand made toiletries and daily service. White doves looks out onto a formal garden of continual white standard weeping cherry tree, white climbing roses and agapanthus our free range white doves are often seen here.

The Fantail Room - Fantail room with twin quality deep-sprung beds, fresh flowers, soft white robe and slippers, tea and coffee tray to relax with awaits you. Fantail room has it's own private shower room, with New Zealand made toiletries, hair dryer and a daily service. Fantail room looks out onto the main graceful romantic garden with large specimen trees, rhododendrons, varieties of rose, and yes knee high hostas.
