Majestic mountain views, private courtyard with large spa pool and a stunning deck that has been used for many classic kiwi barbeques.

Marg & Jack are happy to pick up and drop off at any destination locally.


Clyde is just down the road,Cromwell is only 20 minutes away , Wanaka and Queenstown about one hour’s drive.

Accommodation
Alexandra’s Loghouse Retreat offers you a warm sumptuous relaxing stay in wonderful surroungings. Three spacious but adorable queen rooms all fitted with luxurious amenities, each room has bathrobes – electric blankets -hairdryer –  clock/radio – sterio /cd – coffee and tea making facilities. Join your hosts Marg and Jack For complimentary pre – dinner canape’s and a tasting of Central Otago wines. A delectable gourmet breakfast in the morning. Log House Retreat is not suitable for children.

Reasons to Stay

  • Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Roxburgh, Naseby and Ranfurly are ideal places for explorations of the surrounding historical countryside.
  • Alexandra being  just one of the towns on the Clutha River, that has been well known for it’s famous stone fruit. 
  • Wine has become one of Central Otago’s newest claim,wine tours and tastings are available throughout the summer months.
  • The cool climate and long hot summers of Central Otago and Gibbston Valley are ideal for producing some of the world’s best Pinot Noirs, Alexandra and Cromwell produces not only award winning wines, but seasonal fruits for eating and preserving, you just can’t go past there cherries at christmas.
  • Hydro Electric dams along the Clutha River have formed Lake Roxburgh and Lake Dunstan which now offer a range of recreational opportunities.
  • The clutha river cycling and walking track from Alexandra to clyde being most popular and takes approx 2-3 hrs one way. 
  • Alexandra’s clutha river cruise to Doctors point which provides an in -depth insight into the mining history and makes for a great afternoons trip. Highly recommended. 
  • The Otago Central Rail Trail takes you on a cycling or walking adventure through 150 km of some of  New Zealand’s most memerable scenery and awe-inspiring gold mining history, accommodation is available on route ,but be sure to book in advance and allow at least 3 days to complete.
  • There is also the Alexandra Blossom Festival, held in September each year, Miss Wool awards,a week full of events, Arts and crafts, and also the Golden Shear’s Awards.
  • Other things to do includes Ranfurly’s Art deco,held in Febuary each year,The Art Deco Ball, a weekend filled with events,Gala stall’s, vintage cars and more.
  • The unique Central Otago landscape is inviting for Photography, Weddings, Hunting, Fishing and of course, fine food.
