All your transport needs are solved with our shuttle service. They go anywhere with in the Central Plateau, drop-off or pick-up shuttle service is the only one of its type in Ohakune and the Central Volcanic Plateau area.

In Winter you can go directly to the skifield slopes when you catch our ski shuttle.

In Summer you can take our shuttle to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing or a great range of walks and guided tours. The walks are all spectacular and on the road our friendly drivers are a fountain of stories and knowledge.

Whether you are biking, walking or canoeing the Whanganui River, one of our shuttles will take you there and get you home safely.

Mt Ruapehu Shuttles
Let the ski shuttle take you right to the slopes of Turoa skifield. Ski your heart out (or until the fields close) and then the shuttle will return you from the mountain to your pick up point. You don’t have to worry about driving, parking or car safety issues.  Departs every morning (when fields open) from 8am and every half hour thereafter. Returns from the ski field at 12.30pm and every hour thereafter with the last departure at 4.30pm. To arrange morning pick ups, call 385 8724 and for your convienience we will pick you up from your location around Ohakune. If Turoa is closed for the day, then Matai Shuttles will provide transport to Whakapapa Skifield. Departures from 10.30am.

Ohakune Night Shuttles
When you enjoy the Ohakune Winter nightlife make sure you catch the Matai Night Shuttle. It runs in a half hour from the Junction end of town to the main shopping or bar area of town. This service operates only during the ski season, from mid June to mid October 6pm until the bars close, every night of the week.

Summer Shuttles to Various Walking and Biking Tracks around the Central Plateau
We can take you to a variety of Summer Alpine walks including the Togariro Crossing, the scenic 2 hour Blyth Hut walk or you could take an amazing 4 day circumnavigation of Mt Ruapehu

Rentals
Matai's rental vehicles give you the freedom to explore the central plateau Matai Lodge has a range of rental vehicle options for those looking to be a bit more independence We have a range of Vans and Cars available from $65/day. Trailers can be hired from $40/day. You are entitled to 250kilometres FREE per day, after which are charged at $0.20 per kilometre. Having a special event? Our 30 seater busses can be hired for your special day. Driver provided.
