Experience the peaceful, serene country surroundings of our unique romantic bed and breakfast accommodation in Tasman, Nelson.The Boot is a retreat ideal for romantic weekends and special occasions. Our private boutique bed and breakfast accommodation is a two storey cottage in the shape of a giant boot, furnished especially for two. It is located in the heart of the beautiful Tasman region, centrally between the Able Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park and Nelson. A perfect position for exploring the highlights of Tasman Bay, Nelson, New Zealand.
The Boot stands nestled within a grove of hazelnut trees. Outside, the courtyard, surrounded by a fragrant garden, offers sun loungers for relaxing on hot afternoons and an alfresco dining area for spending lazy evenings beside the outdoor fireplace. Inside luxuriate on the comfy couch in front of the open fire, or enjoy an early night in the comfort of the upstairs bedroom. In the morning your choice of breakfast will be delivered to the door.
Our relaxed, quiet bed and breakfast adopts sustainable practices without deterring from the luxury experience that we want all our guests to enjoy. We use organic produce as much as possible, including our own free-range eggs and fresh fruit from the orchard. Guests are welcome to wander the paths of our 2.4 hectare garden during their stay.

Jester House Cafe
Established in 1991 as the first country café in the Tasman district, the Jester House café has become a much loved coffee and lunch stop. Once you walk over the trip trop bridge past the tame eels you enter another world. The funtastic café garden is full of art and surprises.
The café is open daily in the summer season (October till April) from 9.00am until 5.00pm. In winter it's open Saturday and Sunday from 9.00am until 4.30pm.
We serve breakfast, lunch and inbetweens. There are delicious baked cakes, slices and scones. For lunch we have a blackboard menu, which is all fresh and homemade. Specialties include our own hot smoked fish and platters to share. There's also food for kids.
The Café Gardens - A great place to relax. Choose a table and enjoy some coffee and cake or a local Nelson region wine or beer, it's organic too. You can play chess on the giant wooden chess board or tell the kids to "get lost" in the maze. Let them enjoy the playground while you take some time to smell the roses.
Take a wander and enjoy the various sculptures that you discover and be surprised by what you find.
Tame Eels - The tame eels live in the creek below the bridge waiting to be fed. Eel food is available from the café, $5 for the real eel deal. Get up close and personal with these charismatic megafauna as they squirm out of the water to take the food you offer from your stick.
Fresh water eels are found in most river systems and lakes in New Zealand where they can live for 80-100 years. They spend part of their life cycle in seawater and part in fresh water, with the spawning ground of our native eels thought to lie hundreds of kilometres away in deep ocean trenches off Tonga. They can even wiggle their way over land to reach the rivers that will take them to the sea. As eels naturally hibernate when the water temperature drops, the eel feeding season runs from September until May.

We offer a 10% discount on bookings for two or more consecutive nights so that you can take a weekend break in the Nelson Tasman region at any time of the week. ie. NZ$540 for two nights
