The Whanganui River and Whanganui River Road are both rich in history and legend.  In the early 19th century the Wanganui River was the link from Wanganui to Northern areas.  Wellington to Wanganui  involved travel by sea or rail and access to further north was by Riverboats to Taumaranui.

WHANGANUI TOURS (Prices quoted in NZ$, Subject to Change)

Whanganui River Road Mail Tour -  Monday to Friday

• Travel the River Road with Al the mailman as he delivers mail and supplies to the rural Residents of the Wanganui River Valley
  PRICE: $65.00 per person (5 days a week) includes morning tea. (muffins and tea)
  GROUP discounts available.
  Saturday and Sunday a minimum of 3 people.
  Order a picnic lunch @ $12.00 per person or bring our own, there is no cafe
  Available on the trip, for the thirsty there will be cold drinks available from the van.
  A morning pick-up from your city accommodation at a time to be arranged – returns Mid to late afternoon.
• Sightseeing trips to Bushy Park, Boson gardens and around Wanganui over the weekend available, pack a picnic basket or we can do a basket for you, and enjoy an awesome outing with us. A MUST ... sun block, a Hat, your Camera, and your notebooks!
• Trampers Transport to and from all tracks in the area. Whanganui Tours offer a competitive reliable transport service to:
  Matemateaonga Track – This 42 km track is usually walked in 3-4 days. 
  Whanganui Tours will take care of your road transport.
• Road Transport Costs
  1 – 3 people: $380
  4 or more people: please add $25 pp on to $380
• Jet Boat Taxi: please all jet boat taxi booking must be done to and from the Matemateaonga track directly with one of the jet boat operators
• Atene Skyline Track and Viewpoint Walk – The Skyline Track takes 6-8 hours and the Viewpoint Walk 2 hours taking you into the Wanganui National Park and gives great views of the Wanganui River.
  7 days a week, minimum 3 people over the weekend
  The Mail Man Al can pick you up at your accommodation and return you after completing the Skyline track.

• Cycle the Wanganui River Road (Nga Ara Tuhoni – Mountain to sea cycle trail).  Whanganui Tours offers different cycle packages.
• Why not try something different and go on a bicycle tour from as little as one day to as much as three days or more? Or combine it with a canoe trip.  Whanganui Tours will look after your personal needs. The company will arrange routes, accommodation and provide quality equipment at the best prices. Simply state what you want and sit back and relax as everything gets done for you, even down to the tiniest act such as delivering your baggage to you accommodation.
